Dec 18, 2025
The Keystone Cooperative Charitable Foundation and the Alexander family from Tipton County, Indiana are honored to announce Sophia Walker and Cadince Hussey as the recipients of the 2025 Gregg Alexander Memorial Scholarship, each being awarded $2,000 to support their educational pursuits at Purdue University’s College of Agriculture.
Meet the 2025 Recipients:
Sophia Walker — A Tipton High School graduate studying biochemistry, Sophia aspires to become a large animal veterinarian, specializing in beef cattle and swine production. “My intention is to use my career to provide a consistent and dependable veterinary medical presence to producers, clients, and owners alike in my community,” said Sophia. Her dedication to livestock health was shaped through involvement in 4-H and FFA.
Cadince Hussey — Also a Tipton High School alum, Cadince is majoring in agribusiness. She plans to launch a career assisting local farmers in improving and expanding their operations. “I am committed to pursuing a meaningful career in agriculture and giving back to the farming community,” stated Cadince.
This scholarship commemorates Gregg D. Alexander, a lifelong farmer, Keystone board member, and pillar of rural Tipton County. Known for his wit, generosity, and deep commitment to agriculture, Gregg championed community-driven initiatives, including organizing a school outreach event that provided backpacks, school supplies, and free haircuts to local children just days before his passing.
The scholarship reflects Gregg’s belief in the power of education, community, and agriculture opportunities and is given annually to Purdue seniors from Tipton, Tri-Central, or Clinton Central High Schools, or those residing in Tipton or Clinton Counties.
“Gregg was a farmer at heart. He enjoyed educating others about the agriculture community, explaining new advances in the industry, and passing on a heritage,” explained Joni Alexander, Gregg’s widow. “He wanted people to understand the importance of agriculture. Congratulations to the 2025 recipients. The Alexander family wishes you all the best.”
“Gregg was a true leader and fine member of our cooperative board. He was a vibrant supporter of the cooperative model, deeply dedicated to people, agriculture, and rural communities,” said Kevin Still, President and CEO of Keystone Cooperative.
